The Best Phnom Penh Restaurants

Feb 20 , 2012

Phnom Penh is the largest city in Cambodia and because of its size and number of people, there are countless delicious restaurants to choose from to get a wide selection of food.

Romdeng: For a nice, quiet, romantic dinner, this is the place to go. Romdeng is located in an old colonial building that has a menu of mostly khmer food. The service is excellent and the place is very well kept. Be sure to sample the fried noodles with vegetables. The lights are always dimmed here and music is playing softly, which certainly helps set the mood.

K'NYAY: For some traditional Cambodian dishes, this restaurant is certainly the place to go. There are not only traditional dishes, but also vegetarian plates for those not interested in eating meat. The place is hidden away in a quiet villa, that certainly sets the mood for a romantic evening. The fish amok is excellent. Also be sure to try the curries, which are very tasty.

Baitong Restaurant: This is one of the few local restaurants where visitors can enjoy breakfast. They serve up local Cambodian food and always do it with a smile. The pad thai is one of the favorite dishes here and the atmosphere here is a little different from anywhere else in the city. For a quiet meal with no noise, this is definitely the place to go in Phnom Penh.

Little Noodle Shop: For an Asian delicacy that is unmatched anywhere else in the world, look no further than Little Noodle Shop. They serve up dumplings, which are very popular all over the world, but particularly in Asia. The staff here is very friendly and the noodles along with the dumplings are always very tasty. The food is always fresh and this place is a can't miss when visiting the city.

Yumi: This is by far the best traditional Japanese restaurant in Phnom Penh. It has excellent pork belly, along with other delicacies such as squid, ribs, spinach, and of course sushi. Be sure to also sample the delicious desserts which include the chocolate fondant with apple. The prices here are very reasonable compared to many other nice restaurants in the city.

Now that you are full, go out and experience all the amazing history that has been created in this cultural melting pot.
